About Us |
The Sports Monitor (TSM) is nationally recognized as THE monitor of the Sports Service industry. Our goal is to provide official documented records and to establish standards of ethical advertising and business practices. A very small percentage of handicappers actually monitor their predictions, so watch out for bogus claims and untruths in advertising. You can encourage more handicappers to monitor their records by refusing to deal with them unless they are monitored. We believe a monitored Sports Service is expressing confidence and integrity by allowing an independent third party to monitor and present their record for public scrutiny. THE NATIONS TOP HANDICAPPERS ARE READY FOR YOUR INSPECTION We do publish a weekly report listing all monitored records. You can subscribe to this report by contacting us via e-mail. Our final standings reports can also be ordered and will give you a detailed picture of the handicapping skills of each monitored handicapper over a span of several years. Our monitored records go back through 1985. TIPS ON HOW TO GAME RESPONSIBLY MAKE A BUDGET - Remember that your gaming experience is entertainment. Budget for it accordingly, in the same way you would set aside money to go to the movies or a ballgame. STICK TO YOUR BUDGET - Once you've set aside your gaming allowance, do not exceed it by withdrawing additional money from an ATM or credit card. Similarly, don't borrow gaming money from family or friends. DON'T "CHASE" LOSSES - Sometimes you win and sometimes you don't. If Lady Luck isn't with you at the time, accept it and reject any impulse to try recouping your losses. DON'T PLAY WHEN DEPRESSED OR ANGRY - Gambling is not a suitable emotional "pick me up". If you're upset or agitated, you might not be thinking clearly. BALANCE GAMING WITH OTHER ACTIVITIES AND OBLIGATIONS - A tell-tale sign of having a gambling problem is when you let it eat up too much of your attention and time. Keep it in perspective. Perhaps most important, remember to have fun. If you're out to make your fortune gaming, you're bound to end up sorely disappointed. Once a game ceases to be fun, it ceases to be a game. As with most things in life, don't forget this tried and true adage: Moderation in all things.
